Le Comptoir

More than a bookshop, a unique place dedicated to the humanities and social sciences
Visuel livres - comptoir

Located on the first floor of the Foundation, Le Comptoir is a place dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of humanities and social sciences that combines the sale of books and journals with an original scientific and cultural programme.

A showroom and a sales space

Le Comptoir offers nearly 30,000 references of books and journals offered by more than 60 academic publishers. An opportunity for everyone to discover the richness and diversity of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences produced by universities and research institutions.

The entire catalog is also available on our online store, Comptoir des presses d'université.

A place for scientific meetings and discussions

Alongside the sales area, the forum of "Le Comptoir" hosts numerous scientific encounters aimed at a wide audience.

Presentation of books, conferences, workshop, exhibitions, the forum offers visitors privileged appointments with the world of humanities and social sciences.

A place full of history

Designed from the start as a space for accessing knowledge, the first floor of the Foundation hosted one of the largest libraries in humanities and social sciences for over 50 years.

Following its transfer to the Humathèque Condorcet in 2020, the FMSH wished to preserve the original spirit of the place. It dhas developed a set of services, open to all, dedicated to the promotion and sharing of knowledge in humanities and social sciences.
