The project
Title: La liberté après le libéralisme. Une approche de l’état actuel du libéralisme à travers la pensée de Raymond Aron
"This research project aims to trace the coordinates of 20th-century right-wing liberalism based on the work of Raymond Aron, a paradigmatic representative of this tradition. Using the methodological tools of the history of ideas, hermeneutics, and intellectual history, we will develop a systematization of Aron's main contributions to liberalism and studies on freedom. This will allow us to:
Deepen the work on the fundamental authors of the liberal canon, among whom Aron is notably included, oriented towards the construction of heuristic tools to analyze the transformations of the present from the perspective of the liberal tradition.
Systematize the coordinates of Raymond Aron's liberalism, highlighting how his thought has been situated within this political tradition and how it has enriched it.
Analyze the continuities and breaks between the ways in which the right-wing political liberalism represented by Aron has conceptualized freedom and how this concept is conveyed in the thought and discourse of contemporary radical right."
