The project
Title: Visual sources for the study of actions and performances: the case of Gina Pane
The project Visual sources for the study of actions and performance: the case of Gina Pane aims to question the documentation on some actions by the artist and performer, to check their concordance with other information on the same works, to investigate the difference between diverse types of images as part of a wider questioning of sources for contemporary arts and gender studies. The project has a minimum objective, which is to verify the existence of visual documentation that can be identified with certainty as relating to the action Mezzogiorno in Alimena (1978-1979); and a major objective, which involves questioning the relationship between the action, the constat (the photographic record, which represents the œuvre in a non-ephemeral form), and the video documentation, in relation to which Pane has always manifested an ambivalent attitude.
