Programme de mobilité Directeurs d'études assocités (DEA)

The DEA mobility programme allows international researchers from all continents to come and carry out their research (fieldwork, library, and archival work) in France for periods of 4 to 6 weeks.

Created in 1975, under the impetus of Fernand Braudel in agreement with the Secretary of State for Universities, the ‘Associate Directors of Studies’ (DEA) programme is the FMSH's longest-standing international mobility programme.

Many internationally renowned researchers have been invited as part of this programme, contributing to the construction and development of scientific cooperation networks and the promotion of French research abroad.

  • The program is intended exclusively for holders of university professorships or equivalent positions in higher education and research institutions.
  • Candidates must be under 65 years of age at the time of their stay.
  • Priority is given to projects requiring fieldwork (surveys, work in libraries or archives, etc.) in France.
  • Any application for the exclusive purpose of writing an article or a book will not be considered.

Since its creation in 1975, the DEA programme has supported more than 1,500 researchers.
