The project

Title: Associativities of alternative worlds of life

"These “worlds” associated with unconventional practices and criteria refer to a series of works on the emergence of the “alternative circuit” understood as a network of individuals, communities and organizations offering services and training in various disciplines. Our investigation qualitatively analyzes the practices and knowledge of five axes of so-called “alternative” experience: i) food, ii) spiritual, iii) the art world, iv) therapies and v) the educational world. Methodologically, we combine ethnographies that capture the meanings of a particular situation, with a comparative dimension that brings common grammars and practices closer together, and finally a transversal strategy that captures connections and trajectories of actors between different fields. On the other hand, the research analyzes in an articulated way: criticisms of the dominant model of the field, the constitution of alternative devices which allow to maintain their practices and values, and finally, the negotiations of the groups in front of the broader processes of commodification and massification of the practices."
