Laureate of the 2025 Atlas Programme - In residence at Maison Suger April-June 2025
Nadiia Velychko is a Ukrainian researcher in the field of design and visual arts, lecturer at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Her doctorate (defended in 2022), focuses on interactivity in children's literature design. She is also curator of the exhibition Chernobyl 30, Fukushima 5, and co-organizer of the educational and cultural project “Lesia Ukrainian: a view from the East”. Winner of numerous international awards and distinctions since 2015, she is also a member of the Ukrainian government's cultural policy committee. She has completed over a dozen artist residencies in Poland, Austria, Israel, Germany and France.
The project
Title: Graphic Design as a Tool for War Representation: The Ukrainian Experience
"The aim of this project is to analyze creative activity in situations of forced mobility and war. The project covers a wide range of books from different genres and age groups, and offers a comparative perspective. Nadiia Velychko examines the circulation of ideas, the study of networks; her fieldwork includes works, textual documentation of their production and interviews with artists."
