The project

Title: Du Conte du Graal à la Parzivals saga. Un examen de l'histoire des textes en vue d'une nouvelle édition de la saga norroise

"The Parzival Saga ("Saga of Perceval") is a text composed in Old Icelandic based on the French novel by Chrétien de Troyes, Le Conte du Graal ("The Tale of the Holy Grail"). This translation-adaptation was probably created around the 12th century, under conditions that are not fully understood to this day, although the prevailing view places its emergence during the reign of the Norwegian king Hákon Hákonarson (1217-1263). This "saga" is generally considered within the context of translations from French into the Norse (Northwest Germanic) language, translations that were carried out in Iceland and/or Norway during the 12th century, for which only later manuscript copies have been preserved."
