Arienne Dwyer


Arienne Dwyer is a Professor of Linguistic Anthropology, and co-founded and directed a Digital Humanities institute for seven years at the University of Kansas. She was previously a Humboldt Scholar and postdoctoral researcher in Turkology and documentary linguistics at the University of Mainz, Germany. A specialist on language convergence and language ideologies, over twenty years she has partnered with communities in northern Tibet and Chinese Turkestan (Xinjiang) to analyze spoken data on a dozen endangered languages in contact with majority languages. She is the co-author of a Uyghur language text, and a teacher of Indigenous language documentation and data ethics.
