Alioune Diaw

Alioune Diaw is a teacher-researcher in the Faculty of Letters and Humanities at UCAD in Dakar/Senegal. A specialist of Senghor, he is one of the coordinators of the seminar organized by the UCAD/CNRS International Senghor Research Group. He is a associated researcher at ITEM (CNRS-ENS), a member of the Groupe interdisciplinaire de Recherches sur les Cultures et les Identités/ UCAD, of the editorial board of the international journal Éthiopiques and of the Association pour l'Étude des littératures africaines.

The project

Title: "Archives and renewal of Senghorian studies : Genetic analysis of poem(s)"

Today, given the profusion of archives by and about Senghor, a genetic approach to his poems proves relevant. For an up-to-date reading of the poet-president’s texts, we rely on the archives kept at the Bibliothèque nationale de Paris (BNF). It involves, specifically, starting from the manuscripts to propose a genetic study of his poetry. To do this, we rely essentially on the theories of textual genetics, which renews the knowledge of texts by favoring writing over the written word, process over structure, genesis over the work. This work on Senghor’s manuscripts or typescrips includes two stages : a first phase of consultation and transciption then a final phase of constitution of genetic files. The objective is to help us better understand the meaning of Senghorian poetry and to develop genetic studies in our institution.
