The project
Title: The domestic work intermediation market in the process of digitalization and platformization: a comparative study between Brazil and France
"The research project focuses on the digitalization and platformization of domestic work intermediation, and proposes a comparative study between Brazil and France – as a collateral part of the ongoing cooperative project DIGINTER (Digital Labour Markets Intermediaries at work in comparative perspective, https://lise-cnrs.cnam.fr/lise-laboratoire-interdisciplinaire-pour-la-sociologie-economique/projet-diginter--1555400.kjsp). The research project period abroad at the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire pour la Sociologie Économique (Lise), Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Cnam) in Paris, is planned from October 2025 to January 2026 under Léa Lima's supervision. The study stems from the observation that while platformization of domestic work is a growing phenomenon, the role of intermediation itself has not been a central focus in Brazilian studies, unlike international literature which analyzes platforms as a type of labor intermediary. The project aims to investigate Brazilian intermediary companies in domestic work to understand the specificities of platforms by comparing them with the French scenario, where Léa Lima has conducted similar analyses. The research will analyze companies like Yoopies, Wanteez, and OuiHelp in France, and Parafuzo, Donamaid, Tidmo, Odete, GetNinjas, Mary Help, and Maria Brasileira in Brazil. Methodologies include web scraping of company websites and social media, analysis of Terms of Use and Services, and potential site visits for observation. A key aspect is comparing how these intermediaries operate, including their business models (e.g., on-demand platforms, marketplaces, franchise agencies) and the impact of the digital economy on them."
