After receiving his master's degree from the National University of Uzbekistan, Aftandil Erkinov worked at the same university (1988–2008), the Tashkent State University of the Uzbek language and literature, and the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan (2016–2022). He also served as a Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, USA) (2022–2023). Since 2023, Aftandil Erkinov has been a professor at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.
