A linked set of conferences to be held on 2-6 May, in Paris, Nanterre and London.

In the context of the 50th anniversary of May ’68, the Foundation Maison des sciences de l’homme, University of Pittsburgh, Birkbeck, University of London, and the University of Paris Nanterre organise a set of conferences that will focus on the movements and major shifts in politico-cultural sensibilities around the world that made 1968 such an extraordinary year.

Angela Davis, Tariq Ali, Peter Linebaugh, Max Linz, Kristin Ross, Lewis Gordon, Marco Bertozzi, Silvia Federici, Achille Mbembe, Vijay Prashad, Ronald Judy… during 5 days, more than 40 renowned  researchers and artists will bring back to life the aspirations, energies, memories and narratives of this global movement to pass them to a new generation of activists. Three notions are central to our approach: solidarity in alliances, global history, and history from below.

A press conference with Tariq Ali, Angela Davis and the 4 researchers that initiated this project,  Oscar Guardiola-Rivera (Birkbeck, University of London), Marcus Rediker (University of Pittsburgh), Sylvie Robic (University of Paris Nanterre) & Françoise Vergès (Collège d’études mondiales, Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme), will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd at 7:30pm at the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme.
