Maison Suger

A place of residence and research for foreign researchers
Entrée de la Maison Suger

Since 1990, Maison Suger has opened its doors to international researchers of all nationalities conducting research in the humanities and social sciences, invited to stay in Paris by French institutions.

A place to stay

Located in the Latin Quarter, the historic centre of Paris, the Maison Suger residence offers overseas researchers wishing to spend a few months in the capital a working and living environment tailored to their needs.

Maison Suger offers 33 flats (from 15 sqm mini studios to 60 sqm two-room apartments) doubling up as both accommodation and office spaces, located in a pleasant and practical setting. Depending on their size, they include features such as a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a work area.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to stay at Maison Suger. You've made Maison Suger a great home for us foreign researchers. I had a wonderful time staying there, meeting great people, making friends and international connections with great researchers from all over the world. It is priceless.

A place of research and discussions

Since its creation, Maison Suger has been seen as a hub of social exchange, fostering the sharing of approaches, methods, and knowledge. Every year, some 200 researchers cross paths within its walls. Paving the way for cross-sectional discussion, Maison Suger offers the opportunity to confront interdisciplinary issues and encourage collaboration.

Maison Suger regularly hosts scientific meetings (workshops, regular seminars, conferences, and summer schools) organised by the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) and its partner institutions. It also encourages encounters organised by residents as part of their activities in Paris (monthly meetings, residents' seminar, etc.).
