Supporting the organisation of scientific events
For scientific events scheduled from October to December 2023
The FMSH financially supports the invitation of foreign researchers to organize events on innovative themes in the humanities and social sciences or at the border between the humanities and other sciences.
This new call is for events scheduled from October to December 2023. Only French teaching and research institutions can apply.
- To encourage the participation of foreign researchers in scientific events organized in France;
- To finance international conferences, study days or workshops on innovative themes in SHS.
This program does not fund seminars, annual conferences or summer schools.
Projects will be evaluated by a selection panel that will pay particular attention to events that :
- that promote scientific interdisciplinarity;
- that are held in France and are international in scope;
- that promote the participation of young researchers.
- FMSH support covers travel and accommodation costs for foreign researchers taking part in the scientific event and who do not reside in France.
- This support is intended for the invitation of foreign researchers for a maximum amount of €2,500.
- The budget of the event must specify the financial support requested and obtained, other than that of the FMSH. The funding requested from the FMSH must not exceed 40% of the total cost of the event.
- An agreement between the FMSH and the home institution of the researcher at the origin of the request for funding, will be established for the selected files. Before applying, doctoral and post-doctoral students must ensure that their institutions are ready to sign this agreement.
- The FMSH's support covers transportation and accommodation costs for foreign researchers participating in the scientific event who do not reside in France.
- This support is intended for inviting foreign researchers for a maximum amount of 2 500€.
- The event's budget must specify the financial support requested and obtained, other than that of the FMSH. The funding requested from the FMSH must not exceed 40% of the total cost of the event.
- An agreement between the FMSH and the researcher's home institution will be established for successful applications. Before applying, doctoral and post-doctoral students must ensure that their institutions are willing to sign this agreement.
All applications must include the following documents to be sent in one PDF:
- Form-2023;
- Argument and detailed program of the event (even provisional);
- CV of maximum 3 pages of the invited foreign researchers;
- Estimated budget of the event and financing plan.
In order to reduce the FMSH's carbon footprint, we strongly encourage the use of train travel for trips of 4 hours or less.
For requests for long-distance airfare, please specify the total duration of the guest researcher's stay in France.
- Affixing the FMSH logo on all communication documents;
- Mention of the FMSH's financial support in all written or oral communications (programs, posters, proceedings, documents given to participants, articles).
