Franco Nordic Programme
Description
This programme, led by the University Centre of Norway in Paris (CUNP) and the FMSH, aims to promote research collaboration in the field of human and social sciences and support the development of new scientific cooperation projects between French and Nordic researchers (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, and Icelandic).
The call is open to researchers of all disciplines in the human and social sciences, starting at the doctoral level, for trilateral projects with a duration of 3 years.
Objectives of the call
- Creation and strengthening of Franco-Nordic scientific cooperation.
- Support for collaborative research projects.
- Writing publications and/or new projects to be submitted to other programs (COST, ERC, Horizon Europe, etc.) or foundations for the sustainability of the researchers' network.
Eligibility criteria
- The project team must involve at least 3 researchers from 3 higher education institutions: 1 from Norway, who will be the project coordinator, 1 from France, and 1 from another Nordic country (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden).
- Only the norwegian coordinator has to have a permanent position and be attached to one of the following universities which will host the project during its entire duration: University of Oslo (UiO), University of Bergen (UiB), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norwegian Arctic University (UiT).
- The other members of the team can be PhD students, post-doctoral fellows or researchers, either statutory or associated with a higher education institution in France or in another Nordic country.
- The activities presented must take place in the countries of the project teams.
- If necessary, it is possible to integrate a 4th partner from outside the Nordic countries: in this case, the relevance of its participation must be detailed in the project and the latter must provide co-financing.
Selection criteria
Projects will be evaluated by a selection panel that will pay particular attention to projects :
- Having substantial scientific quality;
- Having an innovative character and promoting scientific interdisciplinarity and the complementarity of expertise;
- Involving young researchers (PhD, Postdoc, and early-career researchers with 2 to 7 years of experience after their defense);
- Detailing the deliverables and the prospects for cooperation at the end of the project;
- Detailing the added value of Franco-Nordic cooperation.
Practical and financial terms
The financial amount requested may be between 10,000 and 20,000 euros over the three years.
A funding agreement will be issued for each selected project, between the Norwegian institution, the CUNP and the FMSH. Co-financing is encouraged.
- Eligible costs: Travel and accommodation costs, expenses related to research missions, publications, and the organization of meetings;
- Ineligible costs: personnel costs and salaries, equipment costs (e.g. computer)
The grant awarded will be paid upon the signing of the agreement.
The Norwegian project coordinator will commit to sending to CUNP and FMSH at the end of each year of the project a scientific and financial report, as well as a final report no later than 3 months after the end of the project.

The candidacy must include at least three suggestions of internationally recognized peers who could serve as external evaluators and who have no conflicts of interest.
