The project

Title: Classes and Classifications at Multiple Scales

"This proposal aims to strengthen collaboration between researchers who have previously studied the relationship between social classes and distinction in Brazil and France.

The main objectives are:

  • To collaborate on the analysis of data from the Beyond Distinction research project (FAPESP Thematic Project 20074-2).
  • To develop an innovative comparative research project on the processes of symbolic classification and the mechanisms underlying multidimensional social inequalities in countries with differing levels of integration into globalisation.

The proposal also includes:

  • Organising conferences in France and Brazil.
  • Formalising cooperation agreements between the participating universities."
