Michael Roubach
Michael Roubach is a professor of philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His field of research is phenomenology and, more broadly, continental philosophy. His general approach is to bring the analytical and continental traditions in philosophy closer together.
Project
Title: Phenomenology and Pluralistic Theories of Truth
"The primary goal of the proposed research is to examine what can be gained by approaching conceptions of truth in the phenomenological tradition from the perspective of the pluralist theories of truth developed in analytic philosophy, and to formulate a pluralist phenomenological conception of truth. Husserl's conception of truth is at the center of the research, but other phenomenological accounts are also considered—principally those of Heidegger and Levinas, and secondarily those of Merleau-Ponty and Henry. In addition to applying truth pluralism in the phenomenological context and exploring the philosophical advantages of doing so, the project compares truth pluralism with other pluralisms relevant to phenomenology, particularly ontological pluralism, and examines the implications of a pluralist conception of truth for the phenomenology of mathematics."
