Maria Spiridopoulou


Maria Spiridopoulou is Assistant Professor of French Literature at the Department of French Language and Literature of the National and Capodistrian University of Athens (2017). She has taught at the University of Padua, the University of the Peloponnese, the University of Cyprus and the Open Greek University. She is invited researcher of DEA (Directeurs d’Études Associés) program stay in France of the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme from 1 March 2023 to 7 April 2023.
She did her dissertation on Gisèle Prassinos at Ca’Foscari (University of Venice) and her thesis on “The typology of the nominal metaphor in French and Greek surrealist poetry its new identity and its figures of innovation” at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has published translations from French and Italian into modern Greek (B. Constant, Balzac, Assia Djebar, Tomasi di Lampedusa, Calvino). She is special secretary of the Greek General and Comparative Association and member of the executive committee of ESCL (European Society Comparative Literature).
