The project

Title: Migration trajectories of sub-Saharan migrants in Tunisia

"My postdoctoral project aims to analyze the migration routes, survival strategies and settlement dynamics of sub-Saharan migrants in Tunisia. This research is based on a qualitative approach combining ethnographic observation and semi-structured interviews with migrants, local associations and institutional players. We are particularly interested in migrants' journeys from their country of origin to their arrival in Europe. This last stage remains insufficiently studied. Current research does not cover in depth the decisive phase when these migrants, trapped in a migratory in-between, devise strategies to get through the final stage and reach their final destination.  As part of our study stay in France, we will seek to deepen our investigation of pathways by collecting data on the reception structures for African clandestine migrants in France, as well as on the family and community networks that facilitate their integration, particularly when they lack specific professional qualifications".
