He is currently focusing on Greek spirituality, the philosophy of nature, the possible relationship between the experience of the sacred and nature, and the study of Hellenic neopaganism. He coordinates the RENATURA study group (PPCIR/UFJF/CNPq), dedicated to exploring the overlap between nature, spirituality and philosophy.
The project
Title: "The divine trace in the world: towards a semiotics of theophany"
As we know, the ancient Greeks believed that the divine manifests itself immediately to humanity as a sensitive phenomenon (aisthesis). Therefore, the present project is part of a triple effort aimed at: (i) contributing to the study of ancient Greek spiritualities through the specific methodologies of the field of Religious Studies; (ii) contribute with an aesthetic-semiotic methodological perspective which, ideally, would allow us to explore the natural, material and synesthetic reverberations of such a phenomenon; (iii) in what is conventionally called "ecotheology", reflect, in the context of the current serious environmental crisis, on the possibility offered to us by the Greek polytheistic spirituality of immanence to rethink our relationship to the natural world, in this case , conceived as vascularized by the divine presence.
