Economic Aryanization refers to the process of excluding Jews - or those considered as such - from the economic and commercial life of a given society, by proceeding to the spoliation of their property in order to make them "Aryan", for the benefit of non-Jews. The theme of economic Aryanization, in other words the elimination of all Jewish influence from the French economy, has long been the poor relation in the historiography devoted to the fate of Jews during the Second World War. This large-scale spoliation was, however, one of the main mechanisms of anti-Semitism in the 20th century.
