Containing Nationalism: Culture, Economics and Indirect Rule in Corsica
David Siroky, guest researcher of the DEA program, publishes his findings
David Siroky is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Arizona State University, School of Politics and Global Studies, where he is a key member of the Center for Social Dynamics and Complexity. In addition, he is an associate researcher at the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, the Melikian Center for Russian, the Eurasian and East European Studies, the Center for Jewish Studies and the Center for the Future of War. His research focuses on the roots of nationalism, particularly its secessionist form, and the causes and consequences of collective violence.
Created in 1975 upon the initiative of Fernand Braudel, in collaboration with the French Secretary of State for Universities, Department for Higher Education and Research, the DEA Programme (Directeurs d’Études Associés, or Associate Research Directors) is the oldest international mobility programme at Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme.
It provides funding to invite international scientific experts from all across the globe to come in France and enables them to carry out work in France (field enquiries, library work and archives).
This programme has extended invitations to numerous internationally-renowned researchers, most often contributing to the creation or development of strong networks for scientific cooperation, while promoting French research abroad.
