Presentation of the project

"The research studies the socio-historical conditions of the constitution of the sociologist Florestan Fernandes as well as his participation as an academic and public intellectual. After the 1964 coup d'état, Florestan was forced to retire in 1968, experiencing professional crises, emotional maladjustments and family difficulties, living in exile in Canada and the United States. In the 1980s/90s, as a federal deputy for the PT, he converted his university degrees into parliamentary politics."
