Fanon in practice. International Perspectives

Over the last few decades, Frantz Fanon's work has been the subject of extensive academic reinvestment, to the point where it has become a key reference in the field of postcolonial and decolonial studies, critical theories of race, and far beyond. But alongside this development, there has been another, which overlaps with it from time to time but is irreducible to it: the history of the militant and combat uses of Fanon's ‘lesson’ from his death in 1961 to the present day, in a multiplicity of struggles on a global scale.

The aim of this study days is to sketch out a map of Fanonian practices, past and present, from the Caribbean and Latin America to the Middle East, Africa and Europe. It will explore the multiple legacies of Fanon's trajectory and thought, the appropriations and political translations to which it has been and continues to be subjected, not forgetting the revivals it has undergone in the field of psychiatry and psychoanalysis of the oppressed, and the literary and cinematographic productions it has inspired.
