Title: Stuck : Place, Mobility, and the Radical Right in the Knowledge Society

"This book manuscript develops a theory of how residential mobility constraints and considerations shape electoral realignment and spatial divides in, and growing support for, radical right parties. In recent years, place has (re)emerged as a central axis of political conflict and electoral choices in wealthy democracies. One reason is its cultural significance: attachment to place can provide a powerful basis for social identity and group membership, acting as a lens through which political parties politicize, and individuals make meaning of, politics. Another reason is the economic weight it bears: in postindustrial knowledge economies marked by sharp and increasing spatial disparities in economic activity, wealth, and opportunities, place has become a key determinant of a wide range of socioeconomic outcomes from social and economic mobility to health and overall well-being."
