Eszter Gyorgy

Eszter György is a researcher in the Department of Interdisciplinary History at the Atelier, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. After completing a master's degree at EHESS in Paris, she obtained her doctorate at Eötvös Loránd University, where she wrote her thesis on the construction of Roma identity in Budapest after the change of regime. Since 2012, she has been involved in European Union projects (TEMA Erasmus Mundus, REACH and UNCHARTED Horizon 2020) as a staff member of the Atelier department, conducting research on the conservation and participatory practices of Roma heritage in Hungary, and teaching as part of the department's doctoral program, the TEMA and TEMA+ international master's programs, and the master's program in cultural heritage. Her research focuses on recent Roma cultural heritage and the history of Roma cultural self-organization and institutionalization.

The project

Title: Contributions to courses already offered by Université de Paris 8 (Institut d'Études Européennes) on the issues of Roma heritage and culture in Hungary, and the cultural institutions and environments of a minority heritage.
