Denis Korablin


Denis Korablin is Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies of Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He gained his Ph.D. in Philosophy at the Moscow City Pedagogical University, Russian Federation in 2019 with dissertation thesis “Interpretation of the foundations of Buddhist philosophy in the heritage of A.M. Pyatigorsky”. He is also a lecturer at Moscow City Pedagogical University. His undergraduate and postgraduate courses include: cultural codes, the phenomenon of Buddhist civilization, the East – a philosophy for life, religion and the modern world. Sphere of interests: history of new religious movements, reception of Vajrayana Buddhism in the European culture, the Bon religion and Tibetan Buddhism in the second half of the 20th century, the history of Oriental studies in USSR and Russia, the influence of Eastern esoteric traditions on the study of Buddhism in the twentieth century, Buddhism and the philosophy of traditionalism.
The project
Title: The real, sacred and imaginary in the construction of the image and history of the study of the Himalayan region (the second half of the XIX - the end of the XX century).
Keywords: culture and religions of the Himalayan region, Tibetan Buddhism, transcultural and postcolonial studies.
