Amir Tehrani holds a PhD in Sociology from Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran, with a thesis on the role of automobility in shaping techno-politics and social life in pre-revolutionary Iran (1950s–1970s), following a master’s degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He has taught urban sociology and social theory at several Iranian universities and has led interdisciplinary workshops on urban studies and ethnography. His research focuses on automobility, postcolonial development, and transnational perspectives on modernity and expertise, with a particular interest in how mobility shapes societies and political orders.
