Philibert Gakwenzire is a researcher and historian at the University of Rwanda. He has focused his studies on the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda in 1994, and is a member of the IBUKA ("Souviens-toi") association for genocide survivors.
For his thesis, defended at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, Philibert Gakwenzire focused mainly on the history of the genocide in his native commune, using a chronological approach. His current research now takes a broader, thematic perspective.

The FMSH and its partners offer mobility grants for post-doctoral research stays in the humanities and social sciences. Every year, the Atlas programme enables researchers to spend 1 to 3 months in France or abroad conducting field research.
Histoires de mobilité is a podcast series in which researchers who have taken part in the programme share their international research experiences.
