Care studies have been developing in France since 2005, though initially with difficulty: the lack of a direct translation for the concept made it seem questionable; it was perceived as “sappy” and lacking in political substance. The COVID-19 pandemic lent it legitimacy—a brief interlude that quickly came to an end. Pascale Molinier, a social psychologist and specialist in care settings and the workplace, operates at the intersection of her fields—whether in Seine-Saint-Denis or Colombia—to reexamine questions surrounding care.
Pascale Molinier is a professor of social psychology at Sorbonne Paris Nord University and a member of the Center for Population and Environment. Her research focuses on the ethics of care, the psychodynamics of work, the psychopathology of work, institutional psychotherapy, gender, and the sciences.
