Following the recent "pill crisis" of the third and fourth generations, women are rejecting this method of contraception more and more. Why then is the pill so widely prescribed in France, despite the criticism it raises? How did it become such a medical necessity when it is not in other countries? These questions, addressed in the book, are all the more crucial as this medical standard is not without consequences: it leads to the conflation of "pill" and "contraception", and to the definition of contraception exclusively as a "women's issue".
