"L'analyse du discours francophone en Afrique de l'Ouest – Perspective historique et épistémologique"

The historical and epistemological contextualisation of disciplines is a concern that recurs regularly in the South, particularly in Africa, in the form of an urgent call for the decolonisation of knowledge.

This issue, set within this political-scientific framework, aims to describe the history, genealogy and prospects of discourse analysis in the Western sub-region, while examining its epistemological issues. In doing so, it responds to current events in Africa, marked by the creation of the African Discourse Analysis Network (R2AD) in 2019, which has stimulated interest in structuring the then underdeveloped field of francophone discourse analysis. The central issue in this issue is the urgent need to promote endogenous knowledge, which is often downplayed in favour of the ‘colonial library’, reflecting the domination of African research by Western institutions and researchers.
