Anticipating the future of health. Contributions to an ethic of anticipation

Written by Léo Coutellec, Alexia Jolivet, Sebastian J. Moser, Paul-Loup Weil-Dubuc, issued on 7 november 2019 in the collection Le (bien) commun.
What would health without doctors, medicines, and without illness look like?
Anticipating the future of health cannot be reduced cannot be reduced to the health of the future: such is the hypothesis at the origin of this work. The reader will thus look in vain a list of new technologies which form or will form what certain people would like to call digital health. To construct a vision, it is not enough to just add together all the options. The reflexive process which gave this work chose to subtract.
Anticipating the future of health invites interrogating on the field of possibilities that opens when certain tropes are gotten rid of, notably technological or organizational. The work proposes to collectively identify and as early as possible the ethical stakes which could be happen in the health sector. Constructed by under-determination, six fictional futures are confronted by anthropologists, doctors, philosophers, and sociologists.
Anticipating the future of health is to take care of present health and our way of being attentive without constraining the hope of the future. This work is a contribution in the necessary construction of an ethic of anticipation taken as an ethic of our way of taking care of the future.
