French-Russian scientific projects

Strengthening French-Russian cooperation in social sciences and humanities

The Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme (FMSH) have been supporting for 10 years a large number of scientific initiatives carried out by researchers in the social sciences and humanities from France and Russia.

A call of proposal per year

The FMSH and the RFBR launch together a call of proposal every year. The submitted projects must fall in with one or more of the following SSH discipline:

  • History, archaeology, ethnography ;
  • Economy ;
  • Philosophy, sociology, political science ; jurisprudence, epistemology ;
  • philology, art studies ;
  • Psychology, pedagogy, social problems of medicine and ecology.

The submitted projects can be either a research project carried out jointly by research teams from French and Russian institutions or a scientific event (conference, seminar, workshop) organized in France or in Russia.

The projects must be conducted in partnership between French and Russian researchers. Two applications must be submitted, one to the RFBR for the Russian team, one to the FMSH for the French team.

The application process and other requirements are determined in the call of proposal published every spring.
