The Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH) has become a member of OPERAS, a European research infrastructure dedicated to open scholarly communication in the humanities and social sciences.

This membership marks a new milestone in the FMSH’s commitment to open and accessible science. It enables the Foundation to join a European network of stakeholders working to transform practices for the dissemination and promotion of research in the humanities and social sciences.

OPERAS: an infrastructure serving the humanities and social sciences

OPERAS coordinates and brings together European resources to address the specific needs of researchers in the humanities and social sciences, including the diversity of publication languages, the variety of formats (monographs, critical editions, annotated bibliographies), and strong links to diverse cultural contexts. The infrastructure aims to develop a scholarly communication ecosystem in which the knowledge produced benefits researchers, students, and society as a whole, without barriers.

A shared commitment

By joining OPERAS, the FMSH becomes part of a European forum for dialogue alongside national research organisations such as the CNRS and INRAE, dissemination platforms including OpenEdition and Cairn, and research infrastructures such as Huma-Num and Progedo. This membership also formalises existing collaborations with several members, in particular within the framework of the Canal-U audiovisual platform.

Beyond access to a structured network, this partnership reflects a convergence of values. The importance of disseminating knowledge and supporting the international dimension of research are priorities shared by both OPERAS and the Foundation.
