The FMSH and IFRA-Nigeria offer postdoctoral researchers and early-career researchers based in France mobility funding to undertake a two-month research stay in the West African countries covered by IFRA-Nigeria’s scientific mandate and meeting the mobility recommendations of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs: Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Chad.

Research projects that align with IFRA-Nigeria’s research priorities and foster synergies with its researchers and partners in West Africa will be supported.

This call for proposals is part of the Atlas Programme, which supports short-term postdoctoral mobility launched by the FMSH and its partners.

Obligations of researchers

As part of the mobility grant, the successful applicant is required to reside and conduct research for a total period of two months in the country or countries where the proposed research project is to be carried out and that fall within IFRA-Nigeria’s scientific mandate. Applicants must, however, follow the recommendations issued by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs when selecting the country and area in which their fieldwork will be conducted. The eligible countries are therefore: Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Chad.
Researchers choosing to reside and conduct their research in Nigeria are expected to participate in the scientific activities of IFRA-Nigeria, and a workspace will be made available to them at the Institute. If the research site is located outside Nigeria, researchers are expected to present their work remotely. Deliverables will be discussed with the IFRA-Nigeria management team.
