La modernité tardive en crise

The Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme and Éditions de la MSH are organising an evening to present the book La modernité tardive en crise, published on 17 October 2024 in the Bibliothèque allemande collection.

The event will be in English and will feature co-author Hartmut Rosa in discussion with Eva Illouz.

About the book

In this book, the two sociologists Andreas Reckwitz and Hartmut Rosa analyse the crisis of modern society. Andreas Reckwitz explores the social fragmentation associated with the transition to a knowledge-based society, which exacerbates inequality and anxiety through incessant competition. Rosa, for her part, examines the accelerating pace of life, a source of alienation and loss of control. Together, they discuss contemporary challenges and the role of social theory in promoting a more balanced society.
