French theater and Argentine theater in the 21st century: relations of exchange, circulation, and reciprocity

Presentation of a research project as part of the "Jeudis de la Maison Suger", a residents' research seminar.

This session will feature Maximiliano De La Puente, who will present a summary of his research on exchanges between French and Argentine theater in the 21st century. He will highlight the growth of artistic cooperation between the two scenes, as well as the main aesthetic, political, and thematic issues that structure these exchanges.

The seminar will be held in French.

About the project

Cooperation and exchange between the French and Argentine theater scenes continued to develop between the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. France is one of the main European countries where Argentine theater has found a significant audience.

This project starts with a question that can be considered the research problem: what are the characteristics, challenges, and contributions of the exchange relations between French and Argentine theater during the first quarter of the 21st century?

The project aims to explore and analyze the works and theatrical experiences of reciprocal exchange between France and Argentina in the sociocultural and political context of the 21st century. It also seeks to identify and compare the similarities and differences between the theater scenes of the two countries, as well as to highlight the thematic features and aesthetic, political, and discursive processes that theater professionals in both countries use to address different aspects of contemporary societies.
