Through a blend of childhood memories and concrete architecture, the journalist and novelist Sophie Virilio brings to life the legacy of the expeditions undertaken by her father, Paul Virilio, her mother Suzanne, and the child she once was. A poetic journey in black and white that rescues these giant bunkers from the oblivion of the tides, anchoring them permanently on her 'Grande Rive'.

In this exhibition, Sophie Virilio traces the origins of Bunker Archéologie and explores its legacy. A journalist, photographer and novelist writing under a pseudonym, she has been working since 2016 to promote the ideas of her father, Paul Virilio, in France and abroad through the press, publishing and the exhibitions she supports and contributes to. In 2024, together with a group of Dromologists, she founded the Atelier Paul Virilio association and created the website dedicated to it. On the initiative of its members (philosophers, architects, publishers, scientists, a choreographer, writers, an archivist, and others), the association publishes the journal Dromologie and devises and organises transdisciplinary meetings and cultural, artistic and educational events linked to the thinking of Paul Virilio.

This exhibition accompanies the reissue of the book Bunker Archéologie in the ‘54 poche’ collection published by Éditions de la MSH, fifty years after its first publication. This expanded edition sees Sophie Virilio outline the contours of a threefold connection: through blood, writing and image. It is a poignant passing of the torch, in which Paul’s photographs and memories give way to those of his daughter.
