Émotions et finance : construire et mobiliser les émotions dans l’éducation financière
- Seminar in English -

Presentation of a research project as part of the "Jeudis de la Maison Suger", a residents' research seminar.

In this session, Daniel Maman will present the key aspects of his ongoing research, which focuses on the formation of financial behaviours in contemporary societies through the lens of financial education, drawing in particular on the Israeli case.

Presentation of the project

"Today’s regime of financialized capitalism requires individuals to engage with financial products and services to ensure their financial security and welfare. Within this regime, different players formulate and communicate imaginaries of the future that prompt individuals to embrace particular financial logics, understandings, and practices in managing their personal finances. Financial literacy and education is an important institutional field where such imaginaries are formulated and communicated to the public. Although presented as essentially informative, aiming at enhancing individuals' knowledge, cognitive skills, and capacities, financial education programs, as exemplified in the Israeli case, are a central tool to govern individuals’ imaginaries of the future and financial conduct according to the model of the desired responsible financial subject."
