Between childhood memories and concrete architectures, journalist and novelist Sophie Virilio rekindles the legacy of the expeditions undertaken by her father, Paul Virilio, her mother Suzanne, and the child she herself once was. A poetic journey in black and white, her photographs rescue these monumental bunkers from the oblivion of the tides and anchor them permanently on her own Grande Rive ("Great Shore").

In this exhibition, Sophie Virilio retraces the origins of Bunker Archéologie while engaging with its legacy. A journalist, photographer and novelist writing under a pseudonym, she has worked since 2016 to promote and disseminate the thought of her father, Paul Virilio, in France and internationally through journalism, publishing and the exhibitions she supports and helps curate.

In 2024, together with a group of dromologists, she founded the Atelier Paul Virilio, as well as the website dedicated to his work. Bringing together philosophers, architects, publishers, scientists, choreographers, writers and archivists, the association publishes the journal Dromologie and develops transdisciplinary events, cultural programmes and educational initiatives inspired by Paul Virilio's ideas.

The exhibition accompanies the republication of Bunker Archéologie in the 54 Poche series published by Éditions de la Maison des Sciences de l'Homme, fifty years after its original release. This expanded edition traces a threefold inheritance—of family, writing and image. It offers a moving passing of the torch, in which Paul Virilio's photographs and memories enter into dialogue with those of his daughter.
