The project
Title: Pushing the boundaries of finance. Digital financial inclusion of welfare-dependent households in Argentina.
"My research project explores how financialization is reshaping welfare provision and impacting the everyday lives of welfare-dependent households in Argentina amid rising social conflict. I focus on the expansion of digital finance as a policy priority, examining how it links welfare recipients to financial markets. My central hypothesis is that, although digital financial inclusion has enhanced access to financial services for low-income households, it has simultaneously deepened their financial vulnerability. Within this framework, digital financial inclusion operates not only as a tool for poverty reduction but also as a vehicle for advancing the interests of the financial sector, ultimately subordinating social protection to financial imperatives."
