Marta Entradas
Marta Entradas is an assistant professor at ISCTE-IUL in Portugal and a visiting researcher at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the United Kingdom. She has served as principal investigator on numerous funded projects. She earned her Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies (STS) from University College London (UCL) in 2011. She was a Marie Curie (MSCA) fellow at the LSE and a Fulbright fellow at Cornell University in New York. She received the "European Young Researcher Award"(EYRA) in 2016, presented by EuroScience, and was featured by Ciência Viva in the book Women in Science.
The project
Title: Research integriy and public trust in science
"This mobility project aims to design a quantitative study with a team of experts in research integrity in GEMASS, to analyse scientists’ understandings and practices of scientific integrity. The focus will be on institutional contexts of research including research norms, questionable research practices (QRPs), misconduct, and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in research. While policies and institutional frameworks on research integrity are increasingly formalized, less is known about how scientists perceive, interpret, and respond to these norms in their everyday work, how they are supported by their institutions in research integrity values, and how (and if) such understandings vary across national contexts. In addition, the study design will aim to investigate factors – both individual and contextual, which can predict researchers’ breaches to integrity. A central dimension of the study concerns AI use in research. While designing the study, attention will be given to views on acceptable and problematic uses of AI tools, perceived risks and benefits, and implications for authorship, responsibility, transparency, and trust in science, as well as AI embedement in institutional contexts, support and training of reseachers. By situating AI-related practices within broader integrity cultures, the project will allow to better understand emerging normative tensions and uncertainties in contemporary research."
