Irina Veselova

Irina Veselova is an independent researcher, embarked on her academic journey with a bachelor's degree from RUDN University in Moscow in 2012, followed by a dual master's program at RUDN University and the University of the Balearic Islands, which she completed in 2014. In 2018, she pursued a PhD in History from the University of the Balearic Islands, focusing on Mexican historiography of the eighteenth century. However, Irina redirected her research trajectory, and her new interests led her to a joint MA program at the University of Manchester and the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences, where she completed her studies in 2022 with a thesis on “Rock Music in the Official Discourse of Two Nondemocratic Regimes: The USSR (1975-1986) and Argentina (1976-1983).”

The project

Title: The emergence of new forms of political agency in transforming societies: rock musicians and their audience in the Soviet Union during “Perestroika” (1986-1991) and in Argentina during the crisis of the dictatorship (1980-1983).
