Daniel Fulda

Daniel Fulda holds the Chair of Modern German Literature at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. He is a member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Leipzig. From 2007 to 2020 he was director of the Interdisciplinary Center for European Enlightenment Studies in Halle. He has been a visiting professor in Paris (EPHE), Lyon (ENS) and at the University of Notre Dame (USA).

Project

Title: The Enlightenment, a contested legacy

The fundamental questions of his research are the relationships between historiography and aesthetics, between texts and other media, and between the study of historical subjects and contemporary interests, whether politically engaged or not. Currently, his research focuses on the Enlightenment program as expressed not only in text but also in image.
