The PAVE project brings together its partners at the FMSH
PAVE | Preventing and Addressing Violent Extremism through Community Resilience in the Balkans and MENA
The H2020 PAVE Project (Preventing and Addressing Violent Extremism through Community Resilience in the Balkans and MENA) partners gathered in Paris at the FMSH for the 2nd Assembly Meeting and the Mid-Term Progress Meeting.
The day after, on the 23 February, the PAVE consortium met with its sister projects CONNEKT, coordinated by IEMed (European Institute of the Mediterranean) and PREVEX, coordinated by NUPI (The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs) to exchange about their research on violent extremism.
On the 24 February, PAVE organized a seminar with stakeholders to validate the first policy recommendations and the needs in term of capacity building. Several committees composed of researchers, practitioners, political actors, religious figures, NGO’s actors, journalists, consultants, etc. exchanged on the identification of capacity building needs.
PAVE aims to tackle the global issue of radicalisation by examining its root causes and driving factors. Based on a participatory and inter-regional approach, we aim to advance evidence-based knowledge on violent extremism in the broader Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and the Western Balkans, and to strengthen the capacity of policy-makers and community leaders for an effective prevention strategy between the European Union and its neighbourhood.
The project is coordinated by the Berghof foundation and it gathers 13 partners from 12 countries.
