For a non-hegemonic globalized sociology

- Closed project -
Common tools, localized knowledge and productive connections

Over the past 30 years, the scholarly debate at the global level has shown that sociology is torn between North and South, between unity and fragmentation, between methodological nationalism and methodological fluidism, between Western hegemony and the temptations of indigenization. The history and themes of these debates are little known in France, however. This seminar offers an opportunity to review them and, by inviting French and foreign specialists on the issue, to envision both the current situation and the future of the discipline from the standpoint of a non-hegemonic globalized sociology. The seminar will be held at FMSH headquarters in Paris in preparation for an international residential seminar in Bordeaux in 2019, which will bring together some 20 sociologists from all over the world.

This seminar will be monthly held at the FMSH, Boulevard Raspail, in Paris, from  October to May. In June,a study day will conclude the year
