Crossed Perspectives on Early Childhood
2025-2026 Programme - Seminar Series
This seminar series explores early childhood from a multidisciplinary perspective, including historical, anthropological, and sociological approaches.
The seminar draws on case studies conducted by researchers, academic staff, and doctoral students among populations from diverse geographic and historical backgrounds. It examines concepts of birth and child development in the child’s interactions with family and wider social circles, taking gender norms into account and emphasising the child’s capacity for action and negotiation from an early age.
The series also investigates the boundaries of early childhood and its temporality according to medical, international, anthropological, and historical standards.
