Sabine Selchow était post-doctorante au Collège d'études mondiales en 2013. Elle travaillait au sein de la chaire "Cosmopolitan Risk Communities" d'Ulrich Beck.
Sabine Selchow est diplomée en Études Nord-américaines et a fait des études de Communications à la Freie Universität de Berlin et à l'Université Duke (NC, USA). Elle possède un doctorat de la London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Avant la réalisation dans une carrière universitaire, elle a travaillé pendant plusieurs années dans le secteur des nouveaux médias.

Au cours de son post-doctorat au Colège d'études mondiales, elle a étudié le "cosmopolite moment" ' dans la politique de sécurité américaine contemporaine, en développant une stratégie de recherche "cosmopolite".
Son sujet s'intitulait : In Search of the ‘Cosmopolitan Moment’ – An Empirical Investigation of the Realities of the ‘Cosmopolitan Moment’ in the US and Europe
Son intérêt se portait plus spécifiquement sur les sujets suivants :
- le rôle des notions collectives du global, l'inconnu, le nouveau, l'incertitude et le risque dans la politique globale(mondiale) en général et la politique de sécurité(titre) en particulier.
- la nature changeante et le rôle de légitimité et l'expertise dans la sécurité.
- la culture du Web 2.0 et son intéraction avec la politique.
