Les graines de l'au-delà

The Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme is organizing a presentation event of the book Les graines de l'au-delà. Domestiquer les plantes au Proche-Orient, published on November 2023 at the Éditions de la MSH.

This session of Livres en dialogue will bring together the book's author, Nissim Amzallag, and the journalist Caroline Lachowsky.

After the discussion, you will have the opportunity to ask our guest any questions you may have. The meeting will be followed by a moment of conviviality.

Our guests

Nissim Amzallag, born in 1962 in Casablanca (Morocco), France is the country of his studies and university training (1965-1985). He has lived in Israel since 1985. He began his career as a biology researcher. His research into the history and philosophy of science and technology, which began in the early 2000s, led him to take a closer interest in ancient technology and its cultural dimension, particularly through copper metallurgy. The discovery (in 2008) of the metallurgical roots of ancient Yahwism highlighted the need to rethink the relationship between technology and inventiveness in the ancient world. This reflection is at the heart of the present work, and the source of its originality.

Caroline Lachowsky, journalist, producer for over 7 years of the scientific programme Autour de la Question on Radio France Internationale. One hour of live interviews with researchers from all disciplines and backgrounds on the mutations and evolutions of our humanity.
